CORPUS CHRISTI
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman who died after she was stabbed multiple times Monday night in Flour Bluff.

It was just after 7 p.m. Monday when police say 23-year old Danait Kidane was found stabbed several times at a home on the 2800 block of Ransom Island, near Glenoak Drive.
According to police, Kidane was stabbed multiple times by her 57-year old father, Mulugeta Tirfe. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said that her father fled the scene in a car, crashing into several mailboxes in the area along the way. The car was later found on fire at the Wal-Mart off of SPID and Greenwood, the father still inside of the vehicle as it burned.
Bystanders pulled him out of the burning vehicle, and he was eventually taken to a burn unit in San Antonio for treatment.
“I was very shocked,” said Cyma Mayes, a former classmate of Kidane’s at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. “Never gave any warning signs of family violence.”
Mayes said that Kidane was a quiet girl.
Before attending school at TAMUCC, Kidane graduated from Flour Bluff High School, where she was a member of the track team, student council, Health Occupations Students of America, the Future Nurses Club and Health Science Technology Education. Her yearbook quote says, “God is in control, and therefore, in everything, I can give thanks. Not because of the situation, but because of the one who directs and rules over it.”
According to fire officials, the father has burns to 98-percent of his body. He remains hospitalized in San Antonio in critical but stable condition, and police have not yet released any information regarding charges he could face.
