The former Ethiopian president Dr. Negaso Gidada has been detained



The former Ethiopian president Dr. Negaso Gidada has been 

detained this afternoon in a police station in Bole district, 

Addis Ababa.

Dr. Negaso Gidada is the chair person of the Unity for 


Democracy and Justice Party (UDJ), one of the most 

important opposition political parties working under the 

narrowest political landscape in Ethiopia.

The party has been in a peaceful struggle campaign, 

“Millions of Voices for Freedom” since 3 months ago. On the 

coming Sunday, the campaign is expected to be completed 

with public demonstration.
